How to be resilient?

The world is constantly changing, always in a state of flux.

To thrive not just survive we need to be resilient.

Yet, what does it mean to be resilient?

“Resilience represents the ability to rebound productively in challenging situations, and it has a strong protective effect against anxiety.” Andrew Shatte, chief science officer for meQuilibrium.

Modern research provides a roadmap for building a resilience practice.

Here is a list of what I’ve found

1) Humor – Laughing helps release stress hormones and reduces anxiety.

2) Exercise – Physical activity keeps muscles strong and improves mood.

3) Meaningful work – Find something you’re passionate about doing, even if it means starting over.

4) Be intentional – Clear your mind of clutter, reflect on how you intend to act throughout the day as a reflection of what you stand for.

5) Focus on what you can control – Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

6) Surround yourself with smart supportive people

7) Begin a mindfulness practice

8) Find meaning – Focus on finding meaning in your life and making meaning in the lives of others.
